World Day of Prayer for Vocations
May 3, 2020 is World Day of Prayer for Vocations. Good Shepherd Catholic Church has prepared a special program for this day which will include a reading of Pope Francis' Message, a catechesis on vocations, interviews with Fr. Arias and the entire Pastoral Team of Good Shepherd, a special interview with our own seminarian, interviews with parishioners and ministry leaders, as well as a surprise presentation from our Good Shepherd School students. Please join us this Sunday, May 3rd after the 10:30AM Mass for a live presentation on www.youtube.com/gscatholic.
Live Masses Production
Let us take a moment to thank the production team for their efforts at bringing the live broadcasts of the Holy Mass, The Rosary, and Fr. Edivaldo's talks to all our parish family. We especially thank Sebastian Zapata for his tireless efforts of recording and producing each broadcast every morning. If you haven't already started, please watch our live Masses which are provided in the schedule above. If you miss any of the live broadcasts, you can always find the recordings on our YouTube Channel playlists: www.youtube.com/gscatholic.
Divine Mercy Sunday
The Lord Jesus Christ asked St. Faustina Kowalska to make this day the Feast of Mercy so that his Divine Mercy may be proclaimed in a special way. On this day, "the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the Fount of My Mercy."
In response to the call of Our Lord, we have prepared a Divine Mercy Sunday program with an online Divine Mercy Novena, a sung Divine Mercy Chaplet, a live Divine Mercy program with special prayers and adoration, and a resource page on Divine Mercy Sunday for all who are drawn to praise Divine Mercy and satisfy the conditions necessary for the day's special graces and plenary indulgence www.gscatholic.org/divinemercysunday.
Live Holy Week Programming
This Holy Week our parish has produced a wealth of online programs for the benefit our parishioners and all those who visit our website and YouTube Channel. Our Pastor, Father Jesus Arias with our Vicar, Father Edivaldo preside over Palm Sunday, Holy Triduum and Easter Masses and Vigils. Our Ministries pray online devotionals, and our catechists and evangelists explain the importance of Holy Weeks. Share this special experience with our parish: www.gscatholic.org/holyweek
15 Minutes with Father Edivaldo
Our Vicar, Father Edivaldo Da Silva Oliveira, has a new program on our new YouTube Channel called 15 Minutes with Father Edivaldo where he discusses a variety of topics related to the issues of today. Topics range from "Is Coronavirus a Punishment from God" to "A Reflection on Easter." Join us for these interesting and educational online programs. You can watch all the recorded programs on our website at www.gscatholic.org/15-minutes-with-father
and tune in for new programs on our YouTube Channel www.youtube.com/gscatholic.org.
Live Rosary After Mass
We have added the Live Holy Rosary
prayer after every Live Holy Mass. This devotion has great power to strengthen the weak, to bring hope to the desperate, and to defeat the enemy that lives in our fears. The Rosary has been called the Spiritual Sword of Our Lady by Father Don Calloway. "The blade of this sword was forged in the living Word of God, shaped by the hammer of divine inspiration, and entrusted to the Queen of Heaven and her chosen servants." Ave Maria Purisima, Ruega Por Nosotros!
Live Daily Masses
Good Shepherd now has live daily masses Monday thru Friday at 8:30AM and Sunday Masses at 9:00AM in Spanish and 10:30AM in English. You will always find our live mass links on our website home page. You can also find the archived masses
on our website. Join us after the mass for daily Rosary. We thank you for your support and for your patience as we implement the technologies needed to bring you the Holy Mass online.
Impact of Coronavirus on Good Shepherd.
In an effort to keep our parish staff and our parishioners safe, Good Shepherd has closed its church and office. We encourage you to use our Online Giving page to make your donation or to mail in your envelopes with your donations to the church. This is a difficult time and many are anxious, but we must remember that the only possible way to contain this pandemic is to avoid contact with people. For the time being Good Shepherd will do its part in trying to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Please help us to do whatever is necessary right now so that we may all return to celebrating the sacraments as a parish family. Visit our coronavirus resource pages
for information on what you can do to protect yourself and your family.
New Branding for Good Shepherd
We are pleased to announce that along with our new website, mobile app and online giving, Good Shepherd has a new look with new branding for all its communications content. Our new logo is a reflection of our parish home, where we find the love and fellowship our Good Shepherd brothers and sisters in Christ. It a reflection of our pastor, Father Arias, who leads us as one family in the truth and love of Jesus Christ. And we are proud to include the painting of The Good Shepherd which was commissioned by our Pastor to be the centerpiece of all our branding efforts. Our Good Shepherd has guided all our efforts and encouraged us throughout this entire campaign.
Stewardship Campaign
Lent marks the commencement of our new Stewardship efforts at Good Shepherd. We invite you to join us as we commit our Time to grow in The Lord, our Talent to serve The Lord, and our Treasure to offer The Lord our first fruits. Lent is the perfect time to consider becoming a steward of God as we contemplate how we can prepare ourselves to receive Christ this Easter. We ask that you take a moment to view the many opportunities stewardship provides you to grow your faith through committed service and support of your parish.
Bathroom Renovations
As you have noticed, construction has begun on the renovation of our bathrooms. We are thankful to our parishioners for supporting this effort. The Lord has blessed us with the resources to begin this much needed project and we look forward to our newly upgraded restrooms. During this time, please use the bathrooms located at the Parish Hall or near the Parish Office. Thank you for your patience throughout this time of improvement.
