May Almighty God and His Blessed Mother bless all Mothers who have given us life and love, and to all mothers who love their adopted children let us give them love and reverence; for mothers who have lost a child may their faith give them hope and may their families and friends support and console them, and for our deceased mothers and grandmothers that they may have the joy of God’s Kingdom. In the Blessed Virgin Mary, we are given the model of motherhood. When the angel Gabriel appeared to her, Mary accepted the invitation to be the mother of Jesus, who is “the way and the truth and the life” (Jn 14:6). Her unexpected pregnancy presented many challenges. Yet while the path laid before her was not easy, Mary chose to give of herself in sacrificial love.
