EASTER SEASON
The Easter Season begins Easter Sunday and concludes with Pentecost. It is the most important liturgical season in the Church’s calendar.
THE RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
"The Cross had asked the questions; the Resurrection had answered them... The Cross had asked: 'Why does God permit evil and sin to nail Justice to a tree?' The Resurrection answered: 'That sin, having done its worst, might exhaust itself and this be overcome by Love that is stronger than either sin or death.'" Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen "We must keep our eyes on the Risen Lord and our hearts will burn within us no matter what happens - for our God is risen. He is truly risen!" Mother Angelica |
DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

THE ASCENSION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
Christ is now exalted above the heavens, but he still suffers on earth all the pain that we, the members of his body, have to bear. He showed this when he cried out from above: Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me? and when he said: I was hungry and you gave me food. Why do we on earth not strive to find rest with him in heaven even now, through the faith, hope and love that unites us to him? While in heaven he is also with us; and we while on earth are with him. He is here with us by his divinity, his power and his love. We cannot be in heaven, as he is on earth, by divinity, but in him, we can be there by love. |
PENTECOST SUNDAY
To console them, he explains the meaning of his departure: he will go, but he will return; meanwhile, he will not abandon them, will not leave them orphans. He will send the Consoler, the Spirit of the Father, and the Spirit will enable them to understand that Christ's work is a work of love: love of the One who gave himself, love of the Father who has given him. This is the mystery of Pentecost: the Holy Spirit illuminates the human spirit and, by revealing Christ Crucified and Risen, indicates the way to become more like him, that is, to be "the image and instrument of the love which flows from Christ" (Deus Caritas Est, n. 33). The Church, gathered with Mary as at her birth, today implores: "Veni, Sancte Spiritus! — Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love!". Amen. Homily of Pope Benedict XVI |
